PAST & PRESENT
Genevieve Weaver, who arrived in London as a hat designer in 1953 and never left, started Guinevere in 1963 up a shop on the King’s Road to sell the furniture and accessories she found on her travels. At the time, the store was in the “wrong” end of the King’s Road and the rent was £7 per week.
Today, the store is very much on the “right” end of the King’s Road, and is surrounded by art galleries, smart restaurants and interiors shops. Guinevere is now run by Guinevere’s sons, Kevin and Marc Weaver.
Marc and Kevin travel around the world several times a year to source unique furniture, accessories and textiles for the home. Their journeys take them to North Africa, the Indian sub continent, Continental Europe, Southeast Asia, the Americas and Australasia.
What they bring back is a mix of gorgeous pieces that are a reflection of their wonderful taste.
Guinevere now takes up four windows and has an international, loyal following of private collectors and the world’s best interior designers. The Guinevere staff are known for their expertise, fantastic taste, and most of all, their attention to detail and customer service.
